1. Food

  • Water Jugs: Give your water jugs a quick rinse with sanitizer before refilling to ensure they stay bacteria-free
  • Milk jugs: Rinse with water and sanitizer before reusing or dispose in outside garbage
  • Table ware & cutlery: Wash with hot water or set dishwasher to sanitize
  • Food: Keep milk chilled by setting your refrigerator below 40°F (4°C). Refrigerate leftovers as soon as you can, and ensure all cooked food reaches a temperature of 165°F (74°C) or higher to kill all bacteria.

2. Environment Hygiene

Home:

  • Food Prep Area: Clean and sanitize your food prep area before and after cooking, especially when handling meat. It’s the first line of defense against contamination.
  • Eating Area: Keep dining areas, particularly those used by children, spotless by cleaning and sanitizing before and after meals.
  • Play Area: Ensure floors and toys in play areas are cleaned and sanitized to keep your little ones safe and healthy.
  • Sleeping Area: Wash sheets, blankets, and pillowcases regularly—daily if needed—to ensure a fresh and clean sleeping environment.
  • Bathroom: Maintain a clean bathroom by sanitizing the toilet, sink, and floors daily, and especially after a sick child uses the facilities.
  • Outside Grounds: Be cautious with secondary water sources and private well water; have them tested annually for pathogens to ensure safety.
  • Farm Animals: Prevent farm animal manure from entering your home, and always wash and sanitize your hands after handling animals.

Congregation Spaces:

  • Family Gatherings: Before gathering, clean and sanitize floors, chairs, tables, and toys to create a welcoming and hygienic environment.
  • Church: After each gathering, give floors, chairs, bathrooms, and changing areas a thorough cleaning and sanitizing to maintain a clean space for everyone.
  • School: Ensure classrooms are bacteria-free by cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, kitchens, and desks regularly.
  • Social Events: When preparing food, cook to at least 165°F (74°C) and clean and sanitize tables and tablecloths to ensure a safe and enjoyable event.
  • Daycare: Designate specific areas for changing, play, and eating. Clean and sanitize these areas daily and immediately after any use by a sick child to maintain a safe environment for all.
